Luna Park, Harbor Bridge, Opera House, Oprah, Oh My!

 *
I got into Sydney Friday night as the sun was setting.
I took the ferry across the harbor to my hotel.
That was my view!
Stunning!

Saturday morning I left my room at 8:00am and returned at 10:00pm!
It was a busy day!
Prepare yourself for a loooooong post!
This was the view of the Opera House from outside my hotel.

First, I went to Luna Park.
It was just a few blocks from the hotel
and right at the end of the Sydney Harbor Bridge.
Since it was 8:00amish, it wasn't open, but it was still fun to walk around.

From Luna Park I went and crossed the bridge.
There were security officers staggered throughout the walk.
I found it surprising, but it made sense.
At times I felt like I was entering a prision.
Do you see what I mean?
It is amazing how massive of a bridge it is!
Overall, it reminded my a lot of crossing the Golden Gate Bridge,
but it was a lot warmer!

At the end of the other end of the bridge was The Rocks.
Originally it was a port community.
Today it's a quaint area with a HUGE market, lots of cafes, and pubs.
I checked the area out and ate a delicious lunch before heading over to the Opera House.

I saw Hendal's Messiah at the Opera House.
I am sure it would have been fantastic to anything there, but this was FINOMINAL!
There were over a hundred people in the choir!
I loved when the whole choir sang, it just consumed you.
The picture of me is from outside the opera house during an intermission.

After the opera, I had planned to enjoy a peaceful walk around the Botanical Gardens.
Instead, I walked into Oprah Mayhem!
She arrived in Sydney on Saturday afternoon
and had a cocktail party in the Botanical Gardens Saturday Night.
Needless to say, there were lots of camera cues, security and part of the garden was "closed."
It was a bit crazy and I was asked if I was with Oprah more times than I can remember,
but an interesting memory just the same.

The Botanical Gardens were very pretty and
there were great views of the Harbor Bridge and the Opera House!

 *
I ate dinner at a cute, little, old pub.
Then I walked to Darling Harbor-
Home of the most lit Christmas Tree in the Southern Hemisphere.
There were carolers and celebration,
but I decided not to stay to see the tree lit.
There was also this statue commemorating the Sydney Olympics.

On my walk back to Circular Quay,
I came across the Queen Victoria Building.
It was cool.
Lots of stained glass, and just cool architecture.

I wanted to experience Luna Park at night.
I wasn't disapointed.
It was very magical all lit up.

Just as I was walking home from Luna Park,
Oprah had fireworks over the Opera House.
What a way to end an already memorable day!
